"Depression"

Stuck inside is an endless pit

But to you all, we hide it with a smile

Inside of us, we’re hurting so bad

And it’s been going on for a while.

We can’t explain this feeling to you

All we know is this pain is so real

But with a smile, we hide it so well

So you won’t know what we do feel.

Just like a mirror, we have two sides

both look the same on the outside

What you don't see is all that we feel

For it’s hidden because of our pride.

Only a few will ever know of us

Because they too live just like me

An inner depression like a black hole

Stuck in our mind, it’s all that we see

Falling and falling with no escape 

Trying to find an end to our darkness

But to all of you we shine a fake light

So you remain blinded with brightness

The scariest thoughts we do hear

Telling us to end all that I think

But no matter how much brightness

Our inner life will always stink

No matter what, inside we’re falling

Down a black hole that has no end

But to you all we’re just smiling 

Because we’ve learned to pretend

We’ll keep on going no matter the pain

Because of your smiles, we feel okay

Such an emptiness is our depression

Why we still have it, we can never say.
